Tonight I had the opportunity to do something I have not done in four years. Tonight, I had the chance to actually do some reporting.
A local newspaper I had sent my resume to was short a reporter and asked me to cover a community event for them. To be honest, I was excited and terrified all at the same time. As I said, it has been four years since I have done this and I'm just a little bit rusty.
By the time I got there I was more terrified than I was excited. I felt so out of loop, had no real idea what was going on, and wasn't 100% sure what to do.
I had to get a little dressed up because it was a fancy ceremony, so I hope I looked at least as professional as the other reporters out there.
I can't say I felt great about the whole thing. But, I got my interview, got my photos, and now have until tomorrow morning to get out this article. Chances are, after I've done the actual writing part, I'll feel a whole lot better about it.
After all, the writing is why I do this.
So just for one night, I got to do the reporting thing again. As terrifying as it was, it was nice to be part of that again.
